When submitting your abstract we ask you to please upload your abstract in English, with a maximum of 2,000 characters.

As part of your submission, we kindly ask you to:

• Select a relevant topic to categorize abstracts under the themes of this years DMS congress

• Indicate your presentation preference: Poster or Oral

Please note: Selecting Oral presentation is an expression of preference only and does not guarantee an oral slot at the conference.

All abstracts submitted will be reviewed by the DMS 2026 Abstract Committee.

By submitting an abstract to the DMS 2026 Congress, organized by the DMS Society, you agree to the following terms and conditions:

1. Publication and Accessibility
   Approved abstracts will be compiled into an official Abstract Book, which will be published and made publicly accessible through the conference website.
2. Presentation Format Preference
   Indicating a preference for an Oral Presentation does not guarantee an oral presentation slot. The final decision regarding presentation format (oral or poster) rests with the scientific committee.
3. Notification of Outcome
   

   You will receive a notification from the DMS Society informing you whether your abstract has been:

   • Accepted for a poster presentation,

   • Accepted for an oral presentation, or

   • Rejected by the committee.

4. Reassignment of Abstract Category
   The DMS Society reserves the right to reassign your abstract to a different thematic category or session than the one you originally selected. This may be done to better align with the overall program structure or to enhance thematic coherence.
5. Original Work
   By submitting your abstract, you confirm that the content is your original work, and that you have the right to submit it for review and publication.

FEMS Grant

This meeting was selected by the Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS) to offer grants for event participation for Early Career Scientists*.

Eligibility

To apply for this grant, you would need to meet following requirements:

To be eligible, applicants must early career scientists* and the presenting author of either an oral or poster presentation at the DMS Congress.

*Early Career Scientists are active microbiologists who obtained their highest academic degree, Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD, less than five years before the application deadline, or who are currently Master’s or PhD students. Periods of maternity/paternity leave, special leave, or illness do not count towards this five-year period.

Please note that BSc, MSc, and PhD students will be prioritised over other Early Career Scientists.
