Membership & Benefits

The Danish Microbiological Society is a society for everybody who is concerned with microbiology. Being a member of DMS gives you the following benefits:

FEMS benefits via DMS: DMS is member of FEMS (Federation of European Microbiological Societies). This means that members of DMS automatically become members of FEMS with the below benefits:

  • Discount off the registration fee for FEMS congresses
  • 25% discount off FEMS Journals and Oxford University Press books
  • Possibility to apply for FEMS grants

Newsletters to members: DMS members receive newsletters with information about microbiological events taking place in both Denmark and other countries. As an example the information can be about conferences, lectures and Ph.D. defences. That is, the e-mails are sent out in order to keep members updated with future microbiological events.

Congress: Every year DMS arrange an annual congress. Participants in the congress will be updated about the newest research in several different microbiological fields. For the congress, the invited speakers are a mix of Danish and International speakers. Furthermore, short oral presentations and poster presentations will be chosen among the abstracts submitted by members of DMS.
The congress is a really good opportunity to meet other microbiologists and exchange experiences. Read more about the congress here.

Annual general assembly: The annual general assembly of DMS is held in connection with another microbiological arrangement. Members of DMS can participate in both the general annual assembly as well as the following/connected microbiological arrangement.

DMS activities: Throughout the year, the DMS organizes a number of events for their members. For example Mondays in Microbiolgy, which you can read more about here.

Please note: You need to have a tie to Denmark either by living or working at an institution in Denmark. If you are not living or working in Denmark, you will need to be recommended by a researcher in Denmark.
